ACTIVITIES OF THE SECTOR FOR PREVENTION AND INSPECTION

• The Service for Prevention and Inspection Supervision within the Cultural Heritage Protection Office, upon received notification had performed an insight at an occasional discovery during effectuation of construction works in the village Forino, Gostivar area. The Inspection Service had ascertained that it is a marble tombstone – stellae , that originates from the early Roman period, bearing the inscription “Annia in memory of the son Epicad” – translated (n.t. in Macedonian language) by Maja Basotova, epigraphist. The Cultural Heritage Protection Office in cooperation with the competent institutions is undertaking measures for immediate protection of the archaeological find.

• Upon received information for damages made by illegal diggers at the site “Stobi”, the Inspection Service within the CHPO had performed an insight and ascertained that a tomb of cist type is completely destroyed. The Cultural Heritage Protection Office, in cooperation with the services from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, had undertaken measures for discovering of the perpetrators of this illegal act and had submitted a criminal charge for damaging a cultural monument against them.
