2008 – THE YEAR OF MACEDONIAN LANGUAGE

On May 16 th 2007, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared the year 2008 as the International year of languages . Considering the fact that issues concerned with languages fall under the activities of UNESCO, along with issues related to education, science, sociological and social sciences, culture, communication and information, this organisation is was appointed to organise the events in this field.

The Government of the Republic of Macedonia , including these activities, on the 15 th of February declared the year 2008 as the Year of the Macedonian .

The Year of the Macedonian language is a significant project for the Government of the Republic of Macedonia which confirms our preparedness for affirmation of the Macedonian language on the road towards the integration of our country in the European and international community.

A range of activities have been prepared within the framework of the Year of the Macedonian language that will consider our language in variety of areas of its use.
