BILATERAL COOPERATION WITH THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA

Upon the invitation by the Sector for prevention and inspection and supervision within the Protection of Cultural Heritage Office, a professional team of experts from the Cultural and Media Inspectorate from the Republic of Slovenia (KMIRS) were guests of the Office in the period 20.05 - 23.05.2008.

The team from the Republic of Slovenia consisted of: Mr. Aleksandar Vidmar an architect and chief inspector, Mr. Dragan Matic, inspector and senior advisor, Mrs. Mateja Zupan an architect, inspector and senior advisor. Within the framework of the organised visit, the gusts from the Republic of Slovenia were part of several working meetings at which experiences were exchanged regarding the implementation of the Laws on protection of cultural heritage, particularly in the field of prevention and inspection and supervision of cultural heritage. The subject of the meetings was also the introduction with the new Law on protection of cultural heritage in the Republic of Slovenia, which has been developed and harmonised entirely with EU recommendations and has been enforced on the 1 st of March 2008. Moreover, the information regarding the preparation and implementation of bylaws in the field of protection of cultural heritage in the Republic of Slovenia were also of great interest and the information will represent a positive experience in the harmonisation of the regulation in the Republic of Macedonia which encompasses these problems.
