THE PREPARATION OF THE LAW PROPOSAL FOR PROTECTION
OF AUDIOVISUAL GOODS IS IN FINAL PHASE

With the proposed Law for Protection of the Audiovisual Goods, that is in preparatory phase there will be a comprehensive regulation of their protection, preservation and usage, the work of the NI Cinematheque of RM and the rights and duties of the owners of the audiovisual goods as a condition for creation of a modern legal ground for their protection.

The foreign comparative experiences are indicating that in the European legislations the film archives goods are defined as audiovisual goods as a result of the development of the new media, production techniques and the adequate protective treatment.

The adoption of the new Law on Protection of the Audiovisual Goods emerges from the need to build a new system of protection of the audiovisual goods compatible with the foreign comparative experiences, and also for harmonization of the Macedonian legislation with the European legislation.
