PREPARATION OF THE RULEBOOK ON PROTECTED DOCUMENTATION
OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY ARE AUDITED

Within the framework of the programme activities of the Office for Protection of Cultural Heritage for conclusion of the legislation on cultural heritage protection, a Rulebook on protected documentation of cultural heritage and the manner in which they are audited has been prepared, in accordance with Article 34, paragraph 7 from the Law on Cultural Heritage Protection (Official Gazette of RM No. 20/04).

This Rulebook prescribes the manner and content in which the protected documentation of cultural heritage and the goods which are considered as cultural heritage is kept. A basic, original and central documentation is projected for these goods. The basic documentation consists of general inventory of all types of immovable, movable and intangible goods and it is kept by the public institutions for protection, the Archive and the certified officials for protection of spiritual cultural heritage. The original documentation consists of original inventory of goods within the protection of cultural heritage (monuments, museums, library and protection of audio and visual goods), and it is kept by the original institutions for protection. The central documentation consists of central inventory for immovable, movable and intangible goods, and it is kept by the Office. In addition to the latter, the Rulebook obligates the Office to keep 7 special and 3 additional documentations, prescribed by the Law and international agreements.

The protected documentations are considered as instruments doe protection and they are an integral part of cultural heritage since they form a common ground of harmonised, comparable and usable data for the documented goods.

After the completion of the necessary legal procedure, it is expected that the Rulebook will be passed by the Minister of culture.
